Gainer (from English gain) is a high-calorie powder made from a blend of protein and carbohydrates. One serving can contain 500-1200 kcal.
Who needs a gainer?
A gainer is for those who cannot gain weight through regular nutrition:
- Ectomorphs (naturally thin)
- People with a fast metabolism
- Teenagers during periods of active growth
- Those who do not have time to prepare full meals
Who does NOT need it?
- If you easily gain weight — better to choose protein
- When losing weight — too many calories
- In case of diabetes — high in carbohydrates
How to choose?
Look at the ratio of protein to carbohydrates:
- High-protein (30-40% protein) — higher quality, less sugar
- High-carbohydrate (10-20% protein) — maximum calories, cheaper
How to take it?
1-2 servings per day, between main meals. The best times are after workouts and in the morning.
