Red fermented rice (RFR) is a natural product of the fermentation of red fermented rice (Monascus purpureus). For centuries, RFR has been used as a flavoring and coloring agent in Asian cuisine and has been valued by traditional Asian herbalists. The production of the Red Omega™ supplement from NOW® is carefully controlled to exclude the presence of citrinin, an undesirable byproduct of the RFR fermentation process. This product is further enhanced with coenzyme Q10 and omega-3 fish oil to support healthy cardiovascular function.
