Description

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) - an organic compound related to glucose, is one of the essential nutrients in the human diet necessary for the normal functioning of connective and bone tissue. It performs biological functions as a reducer and coenzyme in some metabolic processes and is considered an antioxidant.

Effects of ascorbic acid
Collagen formation, serotonin from tryptophan, catecholamine formation, corticosteroid synthesis. Ascorbic acid also participates in the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids. Vitamin C is necessary for detoxification in the hepatocytes.
