The simplicity of the bandages is of great importance for martial arts training - the fixed joint of the hand does not allow the hand to dislocate even when hitting the wrong punches. And how exactly to wind bandages for boxing - we will consider further.
How to properly wind boxing bandagesWhen professional athletes, without thinking, bandage their hands - this indicates the experience gained. Adjusting the tension – the whole process is done subconsciously. For novice wrestlers, the first steps are the most difficult - someone tightly winds the bandages and this causes swelling of the hands, because of which they become numb. Or vice versa, it is loosely wound, and during sparring or practicing blows on the equipment, the bandages shift, creating inconvenience, as well as increasing the risk of injury.
This process requires personal training, adjusting the winding technology "to your liking". It should be understood that in the first six months to a year after the start of training, novice athletes have not yet been hit, and the stiffness of the fist is not felt. However, let's look at the main and most popular winding methods developed.
Cross-shaped method. This method of wrapping boxing bandages has become popular among boxers and kickboxers. During such a winding, the fists are tightly fixed, this increases the attacking abilities of the hands and reduces the risk of joint injuries. The process is simple and clear: first, a loop is put on the thumb and the hand is wrapped with a bandage in the opposite direction from the finger. Wrapping begins around the wrist - three times, to tightly fix the hand, because during the fight, this part of the hand receives the greatest load. Some start wrapping the hands in the opposite way - from top to bottom, to avoid the loops flying off the thumbs at the wrong moment of sparring. Next, a bandage is wound around the hand - between the thumb and forefinger. After that, a cross is made and the bandage goes under the thumb. Then there is a wrapping of the thumb and again a cross around the hand. Then the bandage is placed between the little finger and the ring finger and again under the thumb and around the hand. The process continues with the other fingers as well, and eventually all the first phalanges of the fingers are wrapped.
Direct method. Like winding bandages in the boxing way - here the winding also starts from the joint on the wrist. Next, we wrap the bandage around the hand and fingers and return it to the wrist, where we fix the bandage. If the winding "formula" is completed, and the bandage still remains, then it is better to wrap it around the wrist and again around the ankles, thereby strengthening the joints.
As you could see, everything is very simple if you get into the essence of the process. We strongly recommend winding the bandages, taking into account your priorities, and doing it only yourself - this way the hand and joints feel better. In addition, bandages need constant care - after use, they should be dried regularly and kept rolled up, then they will be more reliable and comfortable to wind on the hands.
